$5,699 – $6,913/Month

Description:

The person in this position supervises a group of Employment Development Counselors who assist CalWORKs families in developing and implementing Welfare to Work plans that not only create self-sufficiency, but promote the health and well-being of the family. An important aspect of the job is the ability to provide direction, support, structure and guidance to staff and balance the program requirements with the needs and interests of the individual and family.

The ideal candidate for this position will have experience supervising employees who work with clients with multiple barriers to employment, is culturally competent and is comfortable working with a diverse population of various socio-economic backgrounds. Written and oral communication skills should be excellent. The ideal candidate will provide technical assistance and support staff for clients in employment, training, and vocational education. The person must be able to work in a high volume, fast-paced work environment and be able to manage occasional crises and possess skills and experience in building and leading effective teams in a fast-changing environment. The ideal candidate for this position has C-IV computer system knowledge.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Equivalent to graduation from a four year college or university with major course work in public or business administration, social science or a field related to the work and three (3) years of employment development and/or vocational counseling experience with vocationally disadvantaged or disabled individuals, dislocated workers or others in similar employment situations. Some lead or supervisory experience is desirable.

Highly Desirable: Experience and/or specialized training providing direction, support, structure and guidance to employment services staff working with multi-barriered clients (e.g., domestic abuse, substance abuse, mental health, learning disabilities, developmental disabilities and/or health issues).
