Description:

San Mateo County Health System’s Aging and Adult Services Division is seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Supervising Financial Deputy Public Guardian located in San Mateo. Aging and Adult Services provides a wide range of services to keep seniors, people with disabilities and dependent adults living safely in the community. Services include centralized intake and referral, assessment and consultation, protective and support services, and case management.

The successful candidate will supervise a unit of Financial Deputy Public Guardians/Conservators responsible for managing income and assets of frail and gravely disabled persons and dependent adults under the jurisdiction of the Public Guardian. Duties may include planning, organizing, supervising, training and evaluating work of the Financial Deputy Public Guardians/Conservators, and other professional and office support staff; providing financial and estate management direction to staff; providing consultation to staff regarding policies, rules, regulations and complex financial management problems; reviewing and approving estate plans and other legal documents; and reviewing and evaluating cases for proper recording, effective and efficient financial and asset management, and conformance with procedures.

Qualifications:

Requires 2 years of experience in professional estate administration or investigation work; knowledge of the principles and techniques used in estate and financial investigation to determine conservatees’ assets, including real property, investments and bank deposits; familiarity with Probate Code, Local Court Rules and Welfare and Institutions Code and relations and procedures governing eligibility and operation of benefits programs and investment management; and knowledge of court system procedures. In addition, the ideal candidate will have knowledge of available resources used in conducting comprehensive assessments and development of estate plans for served clients, experience with supervisory principles and practices and strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
