Salary:

$65,894.40 – $80,163.20 Annually

Description:

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Plans, organizes, manages, directs and supervises the programs and services of an assigned area of the Merced County Library System.

• Assists with development of the unit budget, justification of proposed budget changes, and expenditure control.
• Has responsibility for the supervision, training, and evaluation of subordinate staff and volunteers.
• Supervises central/branch library systems and is responsible for the book collections for central/branches, and the layout and design of central/branches.
• Assists patrons with the use of library services and developing new collections.

• Develops and maintains records and procedures and inventory control.

• Reviews and recommends books and other materials for selection, repair or discard.
• Coordinates assigned functions with other County departments and engages in a variety of public relations activities.

Qualifications:

Experience:
Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience and professional working background in the development and provision of library services and programs, including at least one (1) year in a full supervisory capacity.

Education:
Possession of a Master of Library Science (MLS) degree from an American Library Association accredited library school, preferably with some additional study in library business and/or public administration.
