The Traffic Engineering Division of Public Works oversees all traffic safety and maintenance activities for the unincorporated areas of Monterey County. Work performed by this Division ranges from crosswalk and stop sign installations to actively participating in the development of capital projects in support of providing safe travel for the residents and visitors of Monterey County.
The County of Monterey seeks a results-oriented individual who demonstrates excellent leadership and management skills to join the Traffic Engineering Division of the Monterey County Public Works Department.
The Traffic Engineer will perform the most difficult, complex engineering work and is responsible for planning and directing the work of the Traffic Division including assigning and reviewing and evaluating the work of professional and sub-professional engineering personnel for compliance with engineering standards, laws and regulations.
Education: Completion of course work leading to a degree in traffic engineering, transportation engineering and/or civil engineering.
Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible professional engineering experience in the traffic or transportation field with at least two years performing duties at a level comparable to that of a Civil Engineer in Monterey County.
Other: Possess and maintain a valid CA driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
