Description:

The Sonoma County Water Agency seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer. Overseeing the Electrician/Instrumentation Technician work unit, the Water Agency Principal Engineer is responsible for staff training, work review, and safety. This position works closely with teams throughout to determine priorities and plan water and wastewater process automation projects involving telemetry, communications, and control systems. Additionally, this position selects and manages consultants, reviews plans and specifications for capital improvement and maintenance projects, provides technical assistance to internal and external customers, and participates in enterprise asset management activities.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have experience:
• Managing multiple, complex electrical engineering projects
• Supervising professional staff in the design, upgrade, and maintenance of multiple water-related electrical project sites
• Applying National Electrical Codes (NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, and NFPA 820) and knowledge of safe operation and maintenance of overhead electrical distribution systems
• Installing, maintaining, and/or repairing:
o Instrumentation, motor control, lighting, flow, process, electronic-based systems, generators, telemetry, and hydroelectric systems
o Power systems including standby, large scale photovoltaic generation, and hydro-electric power generation
