2015 WLF Events
November 30, 2015 - CSAC’s 121st Annual Meeting was held in Monterey County in early December 2015. The conference offered a variety of workshops, speakers, policy committee meetings, and networking opportunities – and the Women’s Leadership Forum (WLF) had a strong presence.
The Women’s Leadership Forum held a business meeting on Monday, November 30. Members thanked Supervisor Kathy Long (Ventura County), Urban Caucus Co-Chair, for her outstanding leadership and service to the WLF. Members unanimously elected Supervisor Carole Groom (San Mateo County) as the incoming Urban Caucus Co-Chair. Attendees also discussed 2015 accomplishments and looked forward to 2016 issues and priorities.
The Women’s Leadership Forum hosted two workshops: one on social media and one on human trafficking. The social media workshop provided information on social media to teach county leaders methods about how best to engage with the media in a positive, yet strategic, manner. The human trafficking workshop highlighted innovative county solutions to human trafficking which has emerged as a global, national and statewide issue. The workshop also included the perspective of a former human trafficking victim. Both workshops provided attendees with valuable information to take back to their counties.
Finally, the Women’s Leadership Forum hosted a reception. The reception was a great success and provided attendees a wonderful opportunity to network with members of the Women’s Leadership Forum as well as other members of the broader CSAC family.
May 28, 2015 - As part of the 2015 CSAC Legislative Conference, the WLF held its second annual Leadership and Networking Breakfast at Mayahuel restaurant. We were pleased to have many supervisors and several legislators in attendance.
Mar 9, 2015 - At the California State Capitol, the Legislative Women’s Caucus celebrated its Women of the Year recipients. One of the honorees was the WLF’s very own co-chair, Ventura County Supervisor Kathy Long.
