BSCC Holds Juvenile Justice Standing Committee Meeting
The Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) will host the Juvenile Justice Standing Committee meeting on Aug. 3 from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm. The meeting will be held at the BSCC headquarters at 2590 Venture Oaks Way, Room 101,in Sacramento.
The agenda topics include: an update of the juvenile detention facility minimum standards revision process; an update on the immigration enforcement and detention practices of undocumented youth; a review of the juvenile detention profile survey recommendations and a discussion of the AB 1998: plan for county juvenile justice data collection by race and ethnicity.

Upcoming NACo Stepping Up Webinar and Technical Assistance Call
On Aug. 10 starting at 11:00 am, the Stepping Up partners will host a webinar on the question: Have We Prioritized Policy, Practice and Funding Improvements?. The webinar will feature key strategies for prioritizing policy, practice and funding improvements for people with mental illnesses in county jails.
A national expert will provide an overview of these key strategies, including how county planning teams can prioritize action items identified through their process analysis and develop a detailed description of needs that include the projected action of outcomes and anticipated funding requirements. Additionally, a county official will share their planning team’s prioritization process and how it has helped them move forward with their initiative.
On Aug. 16 at 11:00 am, the Stepping Up partners will host a follow-up Network Call that focuses on the same question as the August 10th webinar.
