Governor Releases May Budget Revision
New Plan Offers Help With IHSS Cost-Shift to Counties
In a wide-ranging press conference this morning, Governor Jerry Brown unveiled the May Revision to his original January 2017-18 budget proposal. The May Revision is the real start to the “budget season” at the State Capitol and the clock is now ticking for the Legislature to approve a final budget by the constitutional deadline of June 15.

The Governor continued his tone of fiscal prudence. “The issues are simple: we have ongoing pressures from Washington, and the economic recovery is not going to last forever,” said Governor Brown. “As we all know, in California we don’t live in a fixed world of straight-line revenues. They go up and they go down. We’ve had 10 recoveries and 10 recessions since World War II.” See the Governor’s news release about the May Revision here.
