It’s National County Government Month!
April Provides Opportunity to Spotlight County Programs
California Counties do great work providing services to 39 million residents 365 days a year. And April is the time to celebrate that work through National County Government Month, which kicks off tomorrow.
Since 1991, the National Association of Counties (NACo) has encouraged counties to actively promote the services and programs they offer. Counties can schedule activities any time during the month. NCGM is an excellent opportunity for your county to highlight effective county programs and raise public awareness and understanding about the various services provided to the community.
This year’s NCGM theme is Safe and Secure Counties, which is consistent with NACo’s 2015-2016 Presidential Initiative. Download the NACo 2016 NCGM Toolkit for ideas about engaging your community and celebrating county government in action.
CSAC utilizes National County Government Month as an opportunity to spotlight county best practices; this year, 12 county programs will be featured – two each week for six weeks. For more information on the programs featured this week, click here.
