Registration is Now Open…
...For CSAC's 2017 Legislative Conference, May 17-18
Registration is now open for the 2017 CSAC Legislative Conference, scheduled for May 17-18 in Sacramento. With the Governor set to issue his May Revision to the January budget proposal just a few days before the conference begins, attendees will have a clearer picture of California’s fiscal condition and how that will impact California counties, including the IHSS cost shift and transportation funding.
CSAC President and Alameda County Supervisor Keith Carson said that there is particular importance to attend this year’s conference.“The state budget and legislative session this year hold great promise and the potential for great distress for California counties. And there is also much uncertainty from Washington D.C about fiscal and programmatic impacts on the State of California and thus local government,” Supervisor Carson said. “Your active participation in the process can help achieve better outcomes for the people we serve and the CSAC Legislative Conference provides you with that opportunity.”
The conference will also include a conversation with Legislative Leadership as well as focus on a number of other important issues impacting counties including cannabis regulation, and the new administration in Washington D.C. and its implications for the Golden State.
County officials will have an opportunity to help set policy through CSAC’s five Policy Committees and Board of Directors – all which will be meeting during the two days of events. Key state elected officials are also being invited to provide insight on myriad issues.
“I know your time is precious, but I hope you will plan on attending our Legislative Conference. The presentations, policy meetings and networking will be worth your investment,” Supervisor Carson said. “Moreover, your knowledge, passion and acumen will be valuable to our Association as we advocate on behalf of California’s 58 counties. I look forward to seeing you in Sacramento in May.”
