WLF at the 122nd CSAC Annual Meeting
CSAC’s 122nd Annual Meeting was held in Riverside County in late November 2016. The conference offered a variety of workshops, speakers, policy committee meetings, and networking opportunities – and the Women’s Leadership Forum (WLF) had a strong presence.
The Women’s Leadership Forum held a business meeting on Monday, November 28. Members thanked Supervisor Erin Hannigan (Solano County), Suburban Caucus Co-Chair, for her outstanding leadership and service to the WLF. Members unanimously elected Supervisor Susan Gorin (Sonoma County) as the incoming Suburban Caucus Co-Chair. Attendees also discussed 2016 accomplishments and looked forward to 2017 issues and priorities.
The Women’s Leadership Forum hosted a workshop on Leveraging the Power of the Local-State Connection. The workshop highlighted opportunities and methods to improve collaboration across levels of government in order to improve outcomes for all. The workshop provided attendees with valuable information to take back to their counties. The panelists included former Assembly Member Kristen Olsen, Senator Connie Leyva and Los Angeles County Chief Probation Officer Terri Macdonald. Ventura County Supervisor Kathy Long moderated the workshop.
Finally, the Women’s Leadership Forum hosted a reception. The reception was a great success and provided attendees a wonderful opportunity to network with members of the Women’s Leadership Forum as well as other members of the broader CSAC family. During the reception, the WLF co-chairs acknowledged retiring women supervisors and department heads.
