$2.7 Billion in SB 1 Funding for Transportation Improvements
May 21, 2018
The California Transportation Commission (CTC) approved $2.7 billion of funding for 61 transportation projects last week that will increase safety, decrease congestion, and move goods more efficiently throughout the state. Funding for these projects comes from SB 1 – the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
Projects that were awarded funding under SB 1’s new competitive grant programs (the Local Partnership Program, the Solutions for Congested Corridors Program, and the Trade Corridor Enhancement Program) faced a lot of competition. The CTC reported that local and state agencies submitted more than 150 project applications requesting more than $5 billion dollars however, only 2$.7 billion was available in this first round of funding.
