Domestic Violence Batterer Intervention Programs
AB 372 (Stone) – Sponsor
As Amended April 3, 2017

Assembly Bill 372 by Assembly Member Mark Stone would require that the goal of the 52-week domestic violence batterer’s intervention program (BIP) shall be to stop domestic violence through evidence-based or promising programs that reduce domestic violence recidivism rates. In addition, the bill requires the BIPs provide a comprehensive written curriculum that informs the operations of the program and outlines the treatment and intervention modalities including a requirement to provide cognitive behavioral treatments and interventions to offenders. This bill is co-sponsored by CSAC and the Chief Probation Officers of California (CPOC). AB 372 is set to be heard in the Assembly Public Safety Committee on April 18, 2017.
