AB 1158 (Chu) – SUPPORT
As Amended September 8, 2017

AB 1158 was voted off the Senate Floor and returned to the Assembly Floor for a concurrence vote during the last week of session. This measure would greatly improve California’s underperforming carpet stewardship program which helps to divert carpet from California’s landfills by increasing carpet recycling. CSAC supports this bill because it sets concreate recycling targets and formalizes the stakeholder advisory committee, provides flexibility for carpet manufactures to help increase compliance.

Energy
AB 726 & AB 813 (Holden) – Two Year Bills

AB 726 and AB 813, by Assembly Member Holden, were made two-year bills this week. Both measures, opposed by CSAC, would have hindered the ability of new Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) organizations to form by making it more difficult and expensive to finalize their procurement plans because of new requirements imposed by the bills. The Author of the bills released a statement acknowledging that more discussion on work on the bills was needed before they moved forward.
