The Committee agenda for the Agriculture, Environment and Natural
Resources (AENR) Policy Committee has been released for the
Annual Conference. The meeting will take place on Tuesday,
November 28 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am in the Sacramento
Convention Center Room 313. Topics on the agenda will include a
review of AENR related legislation from 2017, a discussion of the
2017 fire season with Cal Fire Chief Pimlot, an update on AB 617,
California’s newest emissions law, and the adoption of the 2018
AENR priorities.
In addition to hosting the AENR Policy Committee, AENR staff is
also hosting a cannabis workshop and a federal issues panel. The
cannabis workshop will be moderated by Monterey County Supervisor
Luis Alejo and feature Dr. Karen Smith, Director of the
Department of Public Health, Glenn Backes, drug policy expert,
and Cory Salzillo of the Sheriff’s Association to discuss the
impact of legalization in local communities. The Federal Issues
panel will be hosted by incoming CSAC President, Kern County
Supervisor Leticia Perez and include several prominent California
journalists who will share their thoughts about the impact of
federal politics in California.
