Bill to Continue Local Maddy Funds Introduced

March 31, 2016

CSAC supports the sunset extension for local Maddy Emergency Medical Services Funds (Maddy Funds). Senator Richard Roth has introduced SB 867, which would remove the sunset date to continue to assist hospitals and emergency physicians with the costs of treating uninsured patients, support local emergency services, and contribute to pediatric trauma care.

CSAC has supported Maddy Fund bills in the past, and SB 867, which is sponsored by the California Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians (California ACEP), is especially helpful in that it would permanently remove the sunset date for Maddy Funds.

The Senate Public Safety Committee will hear SB 867 on April 5.
