California Counties Lead Push to Vaccinate Communites

January 21, 2021

Earlier this week, the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) and a coalition of county associations including the Urban Counties of California (UCC), the Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC), the County Health Executives Association of California (CHEAC), and the Health Officers Association of California (HOAC) sent an urgent letter to Governor Newsom that outlined a number of local vaccination challenges and recommendations.

The COVID-19 vaccination effort is the highest priority for counties. Counties have been working diligently to address the necessary coordination, clear guidance and timely communication necessary for all entities administering vaccinations regardless of phase. As counties have been working on this effort we have identified specific areas of additional work needed and recommendations for the state. These areas are in reporting, data transparency, allocations, and accountability.

Counties continue to communicate these needs to the Administration.
