CalRecycle to Hold Organic Waste Workshops

January 18, 2018

Cal Recycle will host two informal workshops, in Northern California and Southern California to continue discussions about new regulations that require significant reductions in landfill waste. The regulations from SB 1383 require a 50 percent reduction in organic waste sent to landfills statewide by 2020 and a 75 percent reduction by 2025. The benchmark for comparison is the 2014 level.

The two workshops offer an opportunity for stakeholder input and questions. The Northern California Workshop will take place on March 21 in Sacramento at the California Environmental Protection Agency Building from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. More details and the agenda for that meeting can be found here.

The Southern California Workshop will take place in Carlsbad on March 22 at the Schulman Auditorium at the Carlsbad City Library. More details and the agenda for that meeting can be found here.

More information about the workshops will be added to the Short-Lived Climate Pollutants (SLCP): Organic Waste Methane Emissions Reductions webpage when available.

CSAC staff is an active part of a broad coalition of county partners and private sector waste haulers that have been closely engaged with CAL Recycle throughout this rulemaking process. CSAC will continue this engagement when Cal Recycle begins its formal rulemaking process later this year.
