CalRecycle Launches Organics Grant Program

The Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) has launched the Organics Grant Program which will offer funding for projects geared toward diverting waste from landfills. Local governments seeking to create new, or expand existing, facilities, which reduce green materials, food materials, or alternative daily cover (ADC) being sent to landfills are eligible to apply.
The program will make nearly $155 million available for projects that: Construct, renovate, or expand facilities for the composting or digestion of organics into compost, soil amendments, fertilizers, biofuels, or bioenergy; Increase in-state infrastructure for the pre-processing of organics; or, Increase green or food materials diverted from landfills beyond that which the pre-processor was already diverting.
