Children Now Release Children’s Well-Being Scorecard

January 28, 2021

This week, Children Now, released their 2020-21 California County Scorecard of Children’s Well-Being. Children Now is an organization that focuses on an array of issues ranging from childhood development to justice involvement, all of which impact the safety and wellness of children, youth and young adults.

The scorecord provides an interactive dashboard with 39 indicators that provide insight on how children are doing in throughout the state. The tool measures each indicator on a 0-100% scale, with 100% being the ideal rating, providing an accessible snapshot of children’s well-being. Each page, which features a single indicator, also integrates additional data, such as the number of children in the county, children living with one or more immigrant parent, and breakdown by race and ethnicity, to contextualize how children are faring in a snapshot.

As the COVID-19 pandemic response continues across the nation, the outlook on the well-being of children worsens, while recovery seems distant for many families. Learning loss, social isolation, and trauma associated with an economic downturn is suspected to indicate a decline in safe and healthy children and youth.

To learn more about the Scorecard, and how to use it to improve outcomes for kids in your community, please register to join the webinar on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 2:00 pm. For additional questions please email research@childrennow.org.
