Collaborative Problem Solving: Competency to Stand Trial in Nevada County Webinar

February 4, 2021

Words to Deeds, partnering with MHSOAC, is presenting the 2nd in a series of FREE, interactive Webinars highlighting the MHSOAC Criminal Justice Innovation Incubator Collaboratives. This Webinar, Collaborative Problem Solving: Competency to Stand Trial in Nevada County, will take place on Tuesday, February 9 from 2:00 – 3:30 pm.

Looking at the incompetent to stand trial [IST] population requires creative thinking about treatment needs as well as system thinking across agencies and disciplines. Nevada County formed a workgroup of agency leaders to delve into challenging policy and practice issues, including ways to add resources or change practices.  This cross-system workgroup met to analyze those found incompetent to stand trial, the actions that could be taken locally to better serve this population, and strategies to reduce incarceration.

Speakers will provide professional perspectives from Behavioral Health, District Attorney, Probation, Public Defender, and Sheriff, on a range of topics around competency. For additional information and to register for the webinar, please click here.
