Deadline Extended for Comments on Rule 20 Utility Undergrounding Tariff Program

March 26, 2020

The California Public Utilities Commission released its staff proposal for revisions to the Rule 20 utility undergrounding tariff program on February 13, 2020. The Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) recently granted an extension to all parties to file and serve opening comments by April 21, 2020. CSAC encourages counties to comment directly to the CPUC, and/or provide feedback to inform CSAC’s comments. Please submit any feedback to Marina Espinoza at mespinoza@counties.org by COB April 15, 2020.

The CPUC’s staff proposal is available here. Slides from the CPUC’s March 3 workshop on Rule 20 are available here.

This ruling also grants party status to any person who files and serves opening comments by April 21, 2020. The opening paragraph of such comments must state that the ALJ’s email ruling granted party status to such person. Such opening comments must be filed and served in compliance with the Commission’s Rules of Practice and Procedure.

New parties to this proceeding should contact Jessie Levine at jel@cpuc.ca.gov or 213-266-4725 for guidance on how to file and serve comments in Commission proceedings. New parties should also promptly request addition to the “Information Only” category of the service list for R.17-05-010 by sending an email to processoffice@cpuc.ca.gov.

Stakeholders who do not have time to file and serve formal comments in this proceeding may submit brief informal public comments at this link.
