DHCS Releases Analysis of Final CMS Managed Care Rule

October 27, 2016

The Department of Health Care Services has released a list of background documents on the controversial Final Rule on Managed Care approved earlier this year by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

The CMS final rule on managed care was intended to align managed care rules with those of other health insurance coverage programs, modernize how states purchase managed care for beneficiaries, and strengthen consumer protections. However, the rule has implications for how the state funds Medi-Cal managed care services, how public hospitals participate in managed care networks, and other potential problems for the health care system in California.

CSAC is working with the county affiliate organizations to assess potential impacts and discuss solutions. More information on the CMS final rule can be found here.
