CalPERS Health Benefit Officer Contact Update
For the purpose of ensuring that timely updates and
employee-related health information are received, the California
Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) is conducting a
review of its contact information for all Health Benefit Officers
and Assistant Health Benefit Officers.
Among other things, employer compliance with the Affordable Care Act requirements and updates on CalPERS’ Dependent Eligibility Verification project require prompt attention from county staff who work with employee health benefits. To change, disable or update health benefit officer information, contact your CalPERS System Access Administrator.
Temporary Total Disability Rates to Increase January 1
The California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) announced
this week that, beginning January 1, 2014, the minimum temporary
total disability (TTD) rate will increase to $161.19 (previously
$160.00) and the maximum TTD rate will increase to $1,074.64
TTD benefits are payments made to employees injured at work who are temporarily unable to perform their job duties; generally, TTD benefits are 2/3 of an employee’s average weekly wage, are not taxed, and can be collected until the employee either returns to work, his or her doctor confirms they can return to work, he or she is diagnosed with a permanent disability, or it has been two years since he or she has started collecting TTD benefits.
