Encampment Resolution Funding Application Now Open

December 8, 2022

On December 1, the Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency (BCSH) released a Notice of Funding Availability for $240 million as part of the Encampment Resolution Fund grant program. Authorized through the 2022 Budget Act, this serves as the first round of funding out of the total $700 million authorized over the next two years to assist local governments in closing encampments and transitioning people into housing and shelter.

Of the total $240 million now available, up to $150 million will be prioritized for projects serving people living in encampments on state rights-of-way, including highways, bridges, and other infrastructure. Counties, cities, and continuums of care are encouraged to submit applications to fund projects that take a person-centered approach to providing housing and services to people experiencing unsheltered homelessness in encampments. Applicants are required to include a detailed service delivery plan that demonstrates a clear pathway to housing for individuals residing in encampments, while addressing their immediate health and safety needs.

BCSH is currently accepting applications and will continue to do so until funding is exhausted, or June 30, 2023, whichever comes first. More information about the Encampment Resolution Fund program is available here.
