AB 1562 (Kim) – Oppose Unless Amended
Emergency Preparedness Supplies
AB 1562 is one of several measures seeking to provide a statewide sales and use tax exemption. This measure provides specified products such as batteries, radios, and generators a sales tax exemption for a limited period in October to incentivize disaster preparedness supply purchases.
AB 1758 (Stone) – Support
Broadband Funding and Adoption Goals
Hearing Date: March 28, 2016 – Assembly Utilities and Commerce Committee
AB 1758 would allocate additional funding ($50 million over seven years) to broadband deployment through the existing California Advanced Services Fund. It also establishes statewide access and adoption goals that balance evolving technology standards with ensuring inclusion for underserved and unserved communities.
AB 1952 (Gordon)— Support
Property Tax Postponement Program
AB 1952 would make adjustments to the existing State Controller’s Office Property Tax Postponement program to provide additional with Department of Finance approval. This program helps homeowners that are seniors and persons with disabilities, as specified, fulfil their property tax liabilities through a “loan” from a state account, repaid at time of sale or property transfer. CSAC supported the reinstatement of this program in 2014, following it’s suspension following the economic downturn.
