Forest Service Announces Secure Rural Schools Funding for FY 2019
April 2, 2020
The US Forest Service announced its Secure Rural Schools (SRS) payments for 2019. A breakdown of SRS funding by county can be found here. The program, which was extended for two years as part of the fiscal year 2020 omnibus spending law, provides vital funding to communities facing declining revenue from timber sales on federal lands. The extension covers payments made both this year and next year. California counties are in line to receive about $21.9 million in SRS formula payments and over $4.2 million in 25% payments for a total of nearly $26.2 million. An additional $2.2 million is available for Title II projects. A detailed breakdown of SRS funding by county can be accessed here.
