In March 2022, the California Broadband Council issued a “Call to
Action” to provide high-speed internet service to 90 percent of
all eligible low-income households by 2024. In response, the
California Emerging Technology Fund, along with multiple
stakeholders, are coordinating a statewide mobilization effort to
promote the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP).
From now through April, schools, college campuses, county
offices, libraries, and community-based organizations are
mobilizing to get eligible, low-income households signed up for
affordable broadband access. On Saturday, April 22,
2023, organizations across the state are hosting
enrollment assistance events to ensure that every eligible
individual, student, and family is enrolled in ACP.
Counties and other organizations are encouraged to help residents
by promoting ACP generally, and hosting an enrollment event on
April 22, 2023. Please sign up

ACP is helping millions of eligible households throughout the
nation save hundreds of dollars on home internet. This federally
funded initiative offers a $30 monthly discount on home internet
(up to $75 per month for households on qualifying tribal lands)
and a one-time discount of up to $100 for a computer or a tablet.
Any household that participates in the free and reduced-price
school lunch program, CalFresh or SNAP, Lifeline, the Pell Grant,
WIC (Women, Infants & Children), Medi-Cal, Veterans Pension and
Survivors Benefit, Federal Public Housing Assistance, or
Supplemental Security Income is eligible for the ACP benefit.
About 34 percent of eligible California households are currently
enrolled in ACP. This tracker
provides enrollment data at the local level by county and zip
code.
