Homelessness Funding Application Deadlines Approaching

Over $700 million in state funding for communities to address homelessness is available thanks to the California budget signed in June. State agencies and departments are working diligently to provide guidelines and NOFAs for the new homelessness funding. As deadlines are quickly approaching, CSAC will continue to work closely with state agencies and departments to disseminate information to counties. CSAC has developed a quick link chart outlining the new homelessness funding opportunities available.

The Homeless Mentally Ill Outreach and Treatment Program (HMIOT) application is due on September 25, 2018.The HMIOT Program is designed to provide flexible one-time funding for county activities involving individuals with serious mental illness and who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

All counties are eligible to receive HMIOT funding and are encouraged to leverage this funding with other funding sources and initiatives, including Whole Person Care pilots and efforts to address mental illness among populations with a high likelihood of homelessness, including those with recent involvement in the criminal justice system or release from incarceration.

Counties must submit a letter of intent and a board resolution affirming participation to Department of Health Care Services at HMIOT@DHCS.CA.Gov. Counties can find a sample resolution on CSAC’s Homelessness Resource Page.

Counties are also encouraged to contact CSAC at fmcting@counties.org  or rduree@counties.org with any questions.
