Important Deadline this Friday for Elections Funding
May 26, 2016
If your county intends to seek reimbursement under Assembly Bill 120 (Chapter 11, Statutes of 2016) for certain election costs related to ballot initiative petition signature verification, this Friday, May 27, is the last day for counties to provide raw signature counts to the Secretary of State for each statewide initiative petition filed with the county on or before May 20, 2016.
The Secretary of State’s Office is in the process of reaching out to the State Controller’s office to finalize the reimbursement process. As soon as the formula calculations have been finalized based on the raw signature count it will be provided to all counties. The next AB 120 deadline relating to petitions signatures is noon on Thursday, June 30. By that date and time counties seeking reimbursement must provide the results of the random sampling for each statewide initiative petition filed with your county on or before May 20th.
