The Judicial Council recently accepted the Report on the California Community Corrections Performance Incentives Act of 2009: Findings from the SB 678 Program (2016). The SB 678 program was designed to allay state prison overcrowding and provide the state financial savings by reducing the number of adult felony probationers sent to state prison. The report consists of a brief background on the program, documents changes made to the program as a result of public safety realignment and Proposition 47, provides results from the first six years of the program including funding allocations to the counties, and provides information on county probation departments’ reported use of funds and implementation of evidence-based practices.
