New Department of Aging Initiative on Local Aging Services

July 1, 2021

The California Department of Aging (CDA) has announced a kickoff webinar for the CDA Aging Hubs Initiative on Thursday, July 8. The goal of this effort is to address two Master Plan for Aging initiatives that address leadership in aging. These two initiatives are #98, relating to building out a No Wrong Door statewide for public information and assistance on aging and disability, and #101, relating to revisiting California’s Area Agency on Aging local leadership structures to meet the growing and changing needs and to advance equity.

The CDA Aging Hubs Initiative is a key follow-up to the conversation at our HHS Policy Committee Meeting during the CSAC Legislative Conference where CDA Director Kim McCoy Wade referenced that a process was being developed to gather feedback on the local AAA structure. This is an important opportunity for counties to engage on this issue and provide feedback. Following the initial kickoff webinar, there will be other engagement opportunities planned. CSAC will continue to work with CDA on ensuring counties have key opportunities for input.

More details about the kickoff webinar can be found in the CDA invite email and webinar log in details are below.
