Preparing for the 2020 Census
Sept. 6, 2018
CSAC and California Government Operations Agency (CalGovOps) co-hosted a meeting on Wednesday to discuss counties’ role in the 2020 Census. Counties across the State attended the meeting to learn about ways in which they can organize their efforts effectively. Counties hold the potential to significantly drive participation in the 2020 Census and foster the necessary collaboration to ensure a complete count.
Materials from the meeting (including case studies from Los Angeles and Santa Clara counties) can be accessed here. CSAC will continue to work closely with CalGovOps to ensure information is being properly channeled to counties. Additionally, CSAC is working to develop an online repository of information for counties to access, filled with case studies, sample strategic plans, etc. Please contact Tracy Sullivan to sign-up for email updates related to these efforts.
An additional learning opportunity is available through the California State Data Center. Their annual meeting – taking place this year on Tuesday, September 18 in Oakland – will provide updates on current and upcoming federal and state activities related to the 2020 Census, the Local Update of Census Addresses (LUCA) Operation, and the Participant Statistical Areas Program, along with a demonstration of the Census Bureau’s planned data dissemination tools. Detailed event information is provided below. The event is free, but advanced registration is requested at https://californiasdc2018.eventbrite.com.
