Recycling Program Pays Up to $10 Per Mattress

October 19, 2017

The Mattress Recycling Council’s (MRC) Illegal Dump Compensation Program aims to help collect data about illegal mattress dumping across California and pays eligible entities up to $10 per mattress collected. The program requires registration of your entity with the MRC and month-by-month data input of information about mattresses removed from public rights-of-way in your jurisdiction; including how they were disposed of.

Eligible participants include permitted solid waste facilities, authorized solid waste operations and government entities in California that collect illegally dumped mattresses and box springs from the public right-of-way. In some cases, non-profits may also be eligible for reimbursements. The reporting period runs from January to December with a disbursement check for the number of mattresses collected issued the following March. However, eligible entities can sign up and begin reporting at any time.

For more information please visit the MRC website or email Mark Patti if you have questions regarding your eligibility.
