Sample Resolution to Opt-Into Census Funding
January 3, 2019
In response to the State’s recently released Census 2020 funding plan, CSAC has developed a sample resolution to assist counties should they choose to “opt-in” to the State’s census program. In order to be eligible to receive the funds associated with the program, counties must submit the county opt-in letter (see Exhibit A) and a board resolution, order, motion or similar document by February 8, 2019.
Counties are trusted as the fiscal agents for nearly one-third (approximately $26 million) of the State’s overall budget allocation. In order to receive the funds, counties must opt-in and complete certain requirements, such as preparing reports and participating in monthly meetings with Regional Program Managers. Contract amounts vary by individual county depending on overall population and the California Hard-to-Count Index.
More information on the 2020 U.S. Census, including the State’s funding plan and other resource documents, is available at CSAC’s Census Portal. Additionally, CSAC will begin hosting regional census calls this month. If you would like to participate in those calls or have any questions, please contact Tracy Sullivan, CSAC Legislative Analyst.
