USDA Food Loss and Waste Innovation Fair
On September 14, 2022, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is hosting a Food Loss and Waste Innovation Fair, 7-11:00 am PT. The free, virtual fair will highlight state-of-the-art technical solutions to reduce food loss and waste and other successful strategies. Registration is now open.
Attendees can live text or chat with representatives from the dozens of virtual booths. A wide array food loss and waste publications and videos will all be available for free download. New this year will be presentations from federal and industry experts and a networking lounge to interact with presenters and other attendees.
This year, CSAC successfully advocated for $270 million over two years to provide direct support for local governments in the implementation of organic waste recycling. The adopted budget allocates $180 million in local assistance grants to help bring cities in counties in compliance with SB 1383 (Lara, 2016).
