Whole Person Care Funding Application for Counties Now Available

October 24, 2019

The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has posted the application and funding allocations for one-time funding for counties who do not currently have Whole Person Care (WPC) Pilots. The application was released to counties by email on Friday, October 18, 2019 and posted on the DHCS WPC webpage. The 2019-20 Budget Act allocates $20 million in State General Fund for counties to use towards building capacity for WPC-like services. The application contains instructions for counties, the funding allocations, the methodology used, and a list of deadlines.

The noncompetitive one-time funding is available to the 33 counties who do not currently have WPC pilots. An application consists of a letter of interest informing DHCS of the county’s plan for using the funding over, letters of support from community partners, and a Board of Supervisors Resolution indicating the acceptance of funds.

Action Required. Counties must submit a letter of interest, from a single county entity, to DHCS by Monday, December 2, 2019. A sample resolution will be used as part of the final acceptance of funds process.  The due date for the resolution is Tuesday, January 31, 2020.

DHCS staff overseeing this program can be reached at 1115WholePersonCare@dhcs.ca.gov. CSAC will also be undertaking an effort to promote the innovative use of these funds by counties, so please keep us apprised for your plans and expenditures of the funding.
