Women’s Leadership Forum Events at the CSAC 125th Annual Conference

December 12, 2019

CSAC’s 125th Annual Conference was held in San Francisco City/County during the first week of December. The conference offered a variety of workshops, speakers, policy committee meetings, and networking opportunities – and the Women’s Leadership Forum (WLF) had a strong presence.

The WLF held a business meeting on Monday, December 2 where members discussed the WLF by-laws, topics of interest to the group and elected Supervisor Lynda Hopkins with Sonoma County as the new Suburban Co-Chair replacing Supervisor Susan Gorin also with Sonoma County.

After the business meeting, the WLF hosted a workshop on implicit bias facilitated by Cassandra Walker Pye. The workshop focused on how biases develop (naturally) and how those biases affect our decisions and actions in the workplace and beyond; assist leaders, department heads, managers and associates understand the source of unconscious bias; and include structural and individual strategies that can be utilized when managing the impacts of biases in the workplace.

The workshop provided attendees with valuable information and strategies to take back to their counties. Lastly, to end the day, the WLF held a reception where elected, county staff, sponsors and corporate partners had an opportunity to network and optimize relationship building.
