Salary:

Salary range is $28.85 – $43.27 per hour, depending on qualifications.

Description:

The California State Association of Counties (CSAC) is recruiting for an experienced, well qualified Accountant to join our team.  We are looking for a professional with high attention to detail, strong work ethic and a passion to learn and grow.

The Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial records and assisting with general accounting tasks for the Association and related entities.  The position is primarily responsible for computing, classifying, and recording expenditures and revenue data to maintain accounting records.  This role also provides financial accounting support and prepares reports for other departments.  General duties and responsibilities include bookkeeping, billing, accounts payable and receivable.  The Accountant will prepare invoices, process payments, post transactions, reconcile accounts and prepare monthly close reports in a timely manner.  Additional duties may include assisting with payroll, retirement plan and benefits accounting.

CSAC is the voice of California’s 58 counties, representing our members at the state and federal level.  CSAC effectively advocates and partners with the State and Federal agencies to protect Counties interests and pursue, develop and implement appropriate policies, laws, and secure adequate resources; develop and equip county leaders to better serve their communities; and communicate the value of the critical work and services provided by counties.

Ability to review documents for completeness and accuracy

Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

Proficient in Quickbooks Online

Desirable Qualifications:

An ideal candidate would have experience with accounts payable and receivable, and have participated in regular monthly close processes.  Familiarity of GAAP Not-For-Profit Accounting Standards and prior experience in auditing or public accounting a plus.

Qualified candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree and two years of accounting experience.  Experience working with non-profit entities preferred.
