Annual salary range: $137,358 to $246,841

Description:

The Animal Services Director manages, directs, and controls animal service activities, programs and operations. The position is responsible for oversight of three operational divisions including Animal Control Field and Shelter Services, Administrative Services, and Veterinarian Services, and ensures that Animal Services policies and procedures are designed and implemented to meet the needs of Riverside County and its residents. Reporting to the County Executive Officer, the incumbent serves in an at-will capacity. In this role, the Director oversees a staff of 189 and a budget of over $24 million.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with a major in business or public administration, or a closely related field AND Four (4) years of experience in a management or administrative capacity in a public sector organization involved in animal control, law enforcement, code enforcement, health care or a closely related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.
