The Assessment Manager is an at will (non civil service) management position in the Enterprise Leader classification and is exempt from overtime pay. The position serves at the pleasure of the County Assessor and reports directly to the Chief Deputy Assess or. The position is located in beautiful downtown Santa Barbara. Assessment Managers are responsible for several teams engaged in the transfer of ownership, mapping, and assessment of residential, commercial, and business properties for tax purposes. They are consummate professionals with an ability to exercise independent decision making and sound judgement, and foster effective working relationships. Assessment Managers are well prepared.

Qualifications:

In order to be considered for the position, candidates must possess a valid Advanced Appraiser Certification with the State of California and: 1. A Bachelor’s degree, 2. At least two years of supervisorial experience in an Assessor’s Office, preferably in two or more areas (i.e. commercial, residential, agricultural, business, possessory interests, title transfer, operations, etc.); and, 3. Experience resolving performance management issues. A Master’s degree is desired.
