Description:

Ventura County’s Office of County Counsel provides legal advice and representation to County departments, officers and related entities in civil law matters. The Office of County Counsel is seeking applications from individuals for Civil Attorney III or Senior Civil Attorney who have substantial experience in civil litigation including mediations, settlement conferences, trials and arbitrations. The ideal candidate will handle a litigation caseload with minimal supervision, including development of an initial case strategy and discovery plan; preparing effective law and motion papers; directly interacting with County officials and staff; executing the discovery plan; and preparing for and conducting the trial/arbitration.

Qualifications:

Juris Doctorate and active membership in the State Bar of California are required.

Civil Attorney III – A minimum of (4) four years of professional legal experience.
Senior Civil Attorney – A minimum of (6) six years of professional legal experience.

Desired: Legal experience in the public sector or with public sector clients.
