Description:

The Associate Health Deputy position is part of a team charged with implementing and overseeing the health policy portfolio comprised of cross-jurisdictional policies, projects, programs, and initiatives in the Fourth Supervisorial District of Los Angeles County. This position reports to the Senior Health Deputy and works directly with the elected county Supervisor; it represents the Supervisor at meetings with other elected and appointed officials, commissioners and department heads; and it interacts regularly with internal and external stakeholders in the field of health, public health, and partially overlaps with mental health and housing. The position is largely focused on policy and programmatic affairs for the Departments of Health Services and Public Health, particularly focused on supporting pandemic response policy, but also overseeing all other functions related to the provision of healthcare, public health and the public safety net system.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from a fully-accredited college or university in Public Policy, Public Administration, Health Care Administration, Public Health or a closely related field. [Please note: An additional 2+ years of work experience can be used to substitute for degrees in any other field.] -AND- Three (3) years of experience in the field of health by either working at a local, state, or federal department or agency; and/or working on the staff of an elected official at any level of government with a focus on health issues; and/or working at a non-profit organization with a mission largely dedicated to health services and public health.
