Description:

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking a Chief Building Official to oversee the dynamic Building Safety division operations in the Community Development Department (CDD). The Chief Building Official works closely with the Director, Assistant Director, and Housing Officer as part of the CDD senior management team. The Chief Building Official provides positive leadership, strong management and administrative expertise for the Building Safety division. Strong technical, problem solving and communication skills are a must to emphasize service through effective utilization of operational systems, processes, and technology, leading to quicker turnaround and greater levels of communication to the customer.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in structural engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, architecture, plan review or a related field and five years of advanced journey level construction inspection or professional engineering experience, including two years of supervisory experience. Possession and maintenance of certification as a Plans Examiner and as a Certified Building Official by the International Code Council (ICC).
