$128,128 – $155,720/Annually*

Description:

The Chief Deputy Assessor, plans, organizes, and directs a program for the continual appraisal and assessment of real and personal property in the County of Sonoma and represents the Division before official bodies, community groups, and other stakeholder groups. This position also controls and directs budget preparation, personnel matters, and the management and technical functions of the Division. The Chief Deputy Assessor stays abreast of proposed state and federal legislation, anticipates policy trends, and identifies strategies and develops plans to integrate new laws and regulations into existing procedures.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and creative leader, and possesses:
• An Advanced Appraiser certification issued by the California State Board of Equalization
• Significant experience and knowledge of the Assessor’s Office responsibilities, including real property appraisal, business property and audits, ownership valuation, mapping, value entry, exemptions, and customer service
• Significant experience with complex appraisals and appeals
• Experience with short- and long-term strategic planning

Please note: Statutes require the Board of Equalization to certify Appraisers before they perform these duties. To meet the qualifications for this recruitment, candidates must fulfill the current BOE requirements.
