Under general administrative direction of the Director-General Services Agency, the Chief Deputy Director-GSA is responsible for the administration of the Facilities and Materials Department which is very diverse in a myriad of services and programs including preventive and corrective facility maintenance, infrastructure upgrades, construction project management, utilities, energy conservation, waste stream management, sustainability efforts, and facilities contracts oversight. This position supports an agency culture that adheres to the highest ethical standards, promotes employee morale and acts in concert with the mission, vision and values of GSA and the County of Ventura. Additionally, the Chief Deputy Director leads department managers responsible for services and programs related to grounds, housekeeping, and security. The Chief Deputy Director may assume responsibility for the General Services Agency in the absence of the Director.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline AND, four (4) years of progressively responsible management experience within a complex general services facilities and maintenance program area to include at least two (2) years of experience supervising professional level staff. The background in facilities and materials must include preventive and corrective facility maintenance, infrastructure upgrades, construction project management, utilities, energy conservation, waste stream management, sustainability efforts, and facilities contracts oversight. Necessary Special Requirements: Experience: Preparing, managing and monitoring operational budgets (desired is service rates and use fees) Contributing to strategic plans and meeting objectives; Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with staff, peers, customers and suppliers while maintaining professional relationships with all stakeholders; Making presentations before community groups and public agency governing boards. Desired: Master’s degree (engineering) or a MBA/MPA and a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline. Experience: Participating in process improvement initiatives/Lean Six Sigma; Managing services and programs related to grounds, housekeeping, and security. Public sector experience
