The Medical Director serves as a member of the Executive
Leadership Team of the Department of Children and Family
Services, directs the medical and well-being programs, and
oversees the Child Welfare policies and programs relating to
diagnosis and treatment of suspected child maltreatment cases
related to medical and mental health concerns of children in the
child welfare system.
The Medical Director reports to the Director of DCFS and serves as the its chief medical advisor, and is responsible for directing the planning, implementation, administration, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of operations and services of the Bureau of Clinical Resources and Services.
Certification by an American Specialty Board in Pediatrics, and
two years of clinical practice experience in child abuse and
neglect, one year of which must have been progressively
responsible experience in managing complex and diverse clinical
services and programs.
A California State Physician and Surgeon’s Certificate authorized by the Board of Medical Examiners of the State of California. This license must be current and unrestricted; a provisional, probationary or restricted license will not be accepted.
