Description:

Clerk/Recorder Supervisor is the first-level supervisory class in the Deputy Clerk/Recorder series. Incumbents in this class are expected to work under minimal management supervision and instruction, and to exercise considerable independent judgment and initiative while supervising and coordinating the work of technical and clerical staff that perform a variety of complex work in examining, accepting and recording, protecting and preserving the County’s legal documents, vital statistics, land transaction records, and other public records; issuing marriage licenses and certified copies; and performing other registration activities. Incumbents in this class report to an Assistant Deputy Clerk/Recorder or other management personnel. This class is distinguished from the higher class of Assistant Deputy Clerk/Recorder in that the latter is the second-level supervisory class responsible for a major section within an operational division or responsible for a community service center, whereas the Clerk/Recorder Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of subordinate staff.

Qualifications:

Two years of full-time, paid technical experience in the field of real estate transaction processing found in the title, escrow, or mortgage industries; or within a State of California County Clerk’s or County Recorder’s Office with responsibility for administering processes that required knowledge of legal documents, forms, and records and applying rules and procedures pertaining to legal documents.
