Description:

The County of Sonoma seeks an experienced Emergency Management/Preparedness professional to plan and coordinate the County’s Community Preparedness Program. Starting salary up to $127,022/year and a cash allowance of $600/month.

The Community Preparedness Program Manager plays an integral role in spearheading and coordinating efforts through the development of the County’s emergency preparedness instruction and information programs, the development and distribution of public information related to emergency preparedness, and the delivery of public emergency preparedness trainings.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:
• A four-year degree in emergency management, public safety, communications, public relations, education, business or public administration, or a closely related field
• Significant experience implementing and maintaining community preparedness, education, or engagement programs
• In-depth knowledge of effective emergency preparedness and/or community education strategies and curriculum content
• Experience collaborating with non-profit, community, private sector or local government organizations to implement emergency preparedness or community education programs
• Political acumen and an ability to effectively manage communications with senior community and elected appointed government officials
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills are desirable
