$149,258 to $208,961 annually, plus benefits

Description:

The Ventura County Fire Department is currently seeking a Deputy Fire Chief. Working Under the direction of the Fire Chief, directs activities and oversees multiple bureau managers with day-to-day operations within the Fire District. Assists in planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the Ventura County Fire Protection District. Assumes direction of the Department in the absence of the County Fire Chief. Performs other related duties as required. This is an “AT-WILL” position exempt from the “Civil Service.”

Qualifications:

Ability to: coordinate, plan, direct and manage multiple bureaus; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; and, deal effectively with various levels of government and public individuals and groups.

Five (5) years of full-time experience in fire fighting, including at least two (2) years as a Fire Battalion Chief or Agency Equivalent.

Supplemental training in fire sciences, public administration, a bachelor degree in a related field and experience in fire prevention, training and administrative assignments are highly desirable.

Possession of, and the ability to maintain, a valid California Driver License is required.
